PSC Lip Whips (Swatches)!! Intense Color with Mega Shine

17 Sep

PSC Lip Whips: Pigmented lipgloss, with long lasting shine. Comes in a jarred container or as a pre-selected or custom 4-5 color palette. Some shades have longer wear than others. Some shades are more pigmented than others. You will need to reapply, but not often. Can be a stand alone lip color, but to prolong the wear, I suggest lining and filling in your lips with a similar colored lip liner. Now check out these dope shades!

All pics are of the lip colors without lip liner. True to tone.

(Above) PSC Lip Whip in Bam Bam: An intensely pigmented cranberry color with fuschia shimmer/ undertones.

PSC Lip Whip in “Mystic”: A “Welch’s” Grape colored lip color. Mega shine and opaque.

PSC Lip Whip in “Bubble Gum Minaj”: A sweet, deep rose pink with shimmer/ iridescent. Not as opaque as the other shades, but is a true colored lipgloss.

PSC Lip Whip in “Caramelize”: A deep, golden bronze, high shimmer lip color. Opaque.

PSC Lip Whip in “Sophia”: A true, babydoll pink color. Ultra moisturizing and opaque.

PSC Lip Whip in “Dulce De Leche”: A beige colored, nude lip color. Opaque and ultra glossy.

PSC Lip Whip in “Hush”: OOOHH LA LA!! A rich lavender lip color. Opaque and super glossy. (My FAV!)

PSC Lip Whip in “What A Doll”: A mid-toned, rich “Barbie” pink lip color. Opaque and ultra glossy.

PSC Lip Whip in “Kim Da Vixen”: Oh yes, this is truly a dope lip color. The perfectly pinched, pale coral lip color. Ultra glossy with an opaque coverage.

One last look at all the PSC Lip Whips!

Check out my video/ demo on these fantastic lip colors!

Double Take: 2012 VMA Rhianna’s Red Carpet Look (Rock Lips 2 Ways)

10 Sep

Image

There are very little “misses” when it comes to Island beauty Rhianna’s makeup choices. This classic red lip and lush lashes plays up the singer’s unique features flawlessly. Little moderations have been made to modernize this “pin up” inspired look as well, so I took the liberty of making my own little tweak to make it my own.

To start, I “closed off” the eyes by tight-lining my upper and lower waterline using a black khol pencil instead of going for the wide-eyed effect with using white or cream eyeliner. Secondly, I opted for a cranberry toned, glossy lip color instead of the matte true red or red orange shade seen worn by Rhianna.

Image

Either way, I wanted to stay true to the spirit of this look and kept the flawless, glowy skin, shimmery, golden tinted lids, bold liner/ lashes and passionate pout. Check out how I rocked out this look!

NYX Face Awards Contest!!

26 Mar

OH MY GOD Divas! It’s been so long since I’ve done a contest and I couldn’t be more nervous. I’m sure you may have heard of a small, tiny little contest that NYX is hosting…yeh, It’s the NYX FACE AWARDS CONTEST and it’s pretty much everywhere. It’s sort of a big deal. But not just for the prizes (I mean a sista could sure USE about $25 gs, forreal) but the possibility and opportunities that could come from this type of exposure…well, it’s enough to make a little ol’ Diva like me bust out in tears. I wish I heard about this sooner, but I still have time!

Check out this video highlighting the contest.

NYX Matte Bronzers

29 Feb

DIVAS!!!!!!! NYX Cosmetics has some fantastic new matte-themed products, and I just had to get my hands on them!
These matte bronzers are absolutely fabulous and multi-useful, might I add.

Although most of the shades they have available have a slight red undertone, these products can be used as a foundation setting powder as well, for women/ men of richer skintones.

The price points are what most of you guys may be accustomed to when it comes to this line; affordable and superior quality (http://www.nyxcosmetics.com/products/face/bronzers/matte-bronzer retails $9.00)
The Matte Bronzer line comes in 5 shades; Light, Deep, Medium, Dark Tan and Deep Tan. NYX also debut with their Illuminating Bronzers for those looking for a more “traditional” bronzing experience!

Check out these links!

Weave (Wig) Files: RPG Show Yaky 16″ Wig

6 Dec

Hey DIVAS!!!

So I know that this is a huge leap for you to see me actually wearing and reviewing a lace wig! I’ve worn a cpl in my day, some good, mostly bad. Some a couple times, some ONCE! Now if you’re anything like me, you hear “Lacefront” and you instantly cringe. From the “Oh-So-Noticable (Un)Natural Hairlines” to the gluing nightmares…ooh, I always see the worst case scenerio in my head. Now don’t get me wrong, there are some fly Divas out there that rock the SH!T out of some lace wigs, BUT unfortunately they are the minority in this weave game. HAHA! Shout out to April (muffinsismylover/YouTube) and Ms. Woods on Youtube because they can slap on a lace wig and make it look flawless hone with NO PROBLEM!!

Ahem, so when RPG Show Wigs reached out to me to review one of their wigs, I was extremely honored but really really REALLY scared. I quickly did my research and looked up thousands (slightly exaggerated) of videos from all kinds of beautiful sisters wearing and reviewing some gorgeous wigs from this company. Not everyone is going to love everything that a company makes or does, so I wasn’t surprise by some negative feedback. I was, however, surprise by the amount of positive feedback for a company that makes full and partial lace wigs, human hair, at such a low price. Low budget, no it’s not honey!

So this is what I recieved: http://sales.rpgshow.com/glueless-cap-human-hair-wig-straight-16-els118s-p-4348.html. The only difference between this one provided in the link, and the actual wig that I reviewed is that the wig I reviewed was a full lace wig, and not glueless. AHHHH, it gave me the heeby geebies Divas. Check out my full review, and cut and styling video to see what I REALLY thought of this wig.

*Note: This wig did not have bleach knots, but there are plenty of videos on YouTube that show you how to bleach your own knots should you desire it.

Fall Trend: Sexy Print, Form Fitting dress w/ Nude Pumps & Funky, Chunky Accessories

4 Oct

Dress: H & M

Pumps: Chinese Laundry

Black Top: Victoria Secrets (strapless bra)

Bangles: (purchased years ago, different places)

Earrings (two pair): Beauty 4 U (green, oval shaped, crackled earrings), Forever 21 (long, gold, leaf accented, dangles)

So this is what I decided to “throw” on for my “FIRST TIME IN A LONG WHILE GOING OUT” outfit. I was definitely inspired by the fall trends of big, animal prints and chunky accessories. You can either accessorize by throwing on a wide belt, thick bangles, chunky/ funky neck piece or large geometric or organically shaped earrings. Remember don’t over-accesorize! Less is definitely more! I chose three chunky bangles; two black and one ombre cream and gold. All three bangles have different sizes and finishes (from shiny, semi-glossy, to matte) but the choice of allow one of the three bangles to bring in the “pop” of color still balances the look.

With such a bold print it’s easy to want to go the other way and be a little more conservative with your accessorizing. Don’t be deterred. It’s all about the hue choices that would take a look from abstract to mismatch. For this look I stuck with one formula; add a pop of contrast with greens, bronzes and golds. It will give you a pop of color, without being too electric…unless that’s what you like ;)

Inspired by these trends and trendsetters:

Jessica White, model

Though I’m not a fan and is not often inspired by the beautiful model’s fashion choice, it’s something about a sexy animal print, hugging a womanly shape that’s always inspiring. Sure, I would’ve made different shoe and clutch choices but as a whole, she’s got the look.

Kim Kardashian, reality tv star Keeping Up with the Kardashians

Shapely Kim K knows how to work form fitting dresses baby! With more curves than a bottle of Coke and a super plunging, sweetheart neckline, she’s spot on for using very minimum accessories. I mean, what more do you need to set something like this off?!

Khloe and Kim Kardashian

These chicas accesorized these fits in different ways that both anchored this look conservatively, yet made it fashion forward and super sexy; tights and belts! Both ladies rocked solid, black, opaque tights, but Khloe rocked it out with thigh high boots while Kim wore a wide, patent leather belt and peep toe suede ankle booties. FAB!

Although there’s an overload of prints, you get the general idea. There’s an inspiring, animal print piece that you can take from each of these looks and add to your existing wardrobe. Now unleash the Animal DIVA you have inside and WERK!!! lol

Contouring for the GODS!!! Using Black Opal Cosmetics

3 Oct

Let me tell you something about these friggin foundations…

My curiosity was peeked with these foundations particularly because I was inspired by BisaNation (http://www.youtube.com/user/BisaNation#g/u)  and her foundation routine video, in which she used several products, one of which was Dermablend foundations. For anyone who’s not familiar with Dermablend foundations, really quickly, this is a rich, creamy, ultra pigmented foundation, mostly packaged in a white jar. The consistency is very thick and is mostly used in the coverage of hyper-pigmentation in skin and scar coverage. It’s a heavy-duty, cream foundation y’all.  Continue reading

SWATCHES!! E.L.F. 100 Piece Eyeshadow Palette/

22 Aug

swatches of the blue row

swatches were obtain using only a slightly damp brush. No base, no primer

HEY DIVAS!!

So I decided to show a few swatches of a couple of my E.L.F. palettes just to show you the AWESOME pigmentation and color pay off you can get with this product line. For a fraction of the costs of higher priced, similar cosmetics, it’s perfect for a beginner or pro, for special occasions of EVERY DAY WEAR!

Pros:

Price point is unbeatable!

It’s a reputable, well known cosmetics line with a huge customer base, so you can get a lot of feedback from reviews alone.

It’s visable in both drug stores, as well as online and in some cases department/ retail stores as well.

Color payoff is incredible.

Most palettes give you a variety of matte, pearl and shimmer shades!

Cons:

You don’t have an opportunity to “test” or “swatch” the product prior to purchase

Some shades come off a little chalky (which could be easily resolved using mixing mediums or different bases)

Some shades are not as “powerful” as others.

As always I encourage you to weigh out your options, do your research and shop wisely Divas!

Retro Look: Pin-Up w/ a Twist!

15 Aug

Hello my LOVELIES!!! So I’ve been playing in my new palette that I received from Colorful Online. I must say, I really love this particular palette, the 4th Edition 120 Palette. It’s ultra versatile, especially as a freelance artist, I can really rely on the shades and finishes found in this palette for my fabulous brides. Don’t be turned off by this palette’s muted shades, look at the look I was able to whip out! Definitely not muted!

I must admit, this was a look I did on a whim; it started off as a Pin Up look, but then some things started churning in my head and I decided to bump it up a notch! Can we say “Lavendar LIPS”? Fab

#3 120 Palette

Oh my goodness! Look at this friggin palette! The shades found in this palette are absolutely stunning; both wearable with major dramatic potential! As you can see, this palette contains easy autumn and spring colors, high shine, super shimmery, and SUPER PIGMENTED!

I received this palette back at the end of January of this year, and as soon as I swiped a couple shades on my fingertips,  just to feel the consistency, and check out the color pay off, I’ve been using this palette on my clients STAT! One way or another, either as the entire eye look, an accent color, or a highlight color, I have been using this palette everyday, since the day that I received it.

I already own one of the more popular 120 palettes, also known as the second version of the 120 palette (click here) containing mostly bright colors, both matte and shimmery. This palette, however, is the third version available on this site and as you can see, this lends more towards a wider demographic of makeup wearers, professionals and enthusiasts alike. The colors are not as shocking or intimidating for the more tamed makeup wearers, so I would consider this quite a universal palette, to say the least. A++

I also received a red, shimmer-toned cream liner offered on this site. The color is true-to-tone, which a biggie for me, especially if you use it for its intended use; as a cream eyeliner. Admittedly, I rarely use these types of products as a liner, rather, I gear more towards these products as an eyeshadow, cream base.  The downfall with using most cream liners as an eyeshadow base, though, is that it tends to dry quickly, and is hard to blend completely because of this. Also, because it may dry fast, it does nothing to help the eyeshadow colors stick to the lid. To alleviate these issues, I simply add some type of siliconebased mixing medium to sustain the creamy texture. With this particular cream eyeshadow, I didn’t find that problem at all. It blended beautifully, held on the creamy texture a little longer, and still gave the “no budge, creaseless” effect that we all can appreciate.  A++

So you already know that I am NOT disappointed in the products, let’s talk more about the price points, packaging, labeling and shipping of these products.

Pricing: Make no doubt about it, just by navigating this site, you’ll see a trend on their prices; they’re super low! The pricing for their eyeshadow, blush and concealer palettes are not so unlike the prices you may find on similar websites like Coastal Scents, BH Cosmetics, or Stars Makeup Haven, give or take a couple bucks. You’ll also see that they offer a lot more than just makeup, they have a growing catalogueof cosmetics tools as well. Their site is growing with more products, so it’s only a matter of time  before they become a great online store for virtually all your beauty needs! A

Packaging/ Labeling: Both products came packaged tightly in card-board parcel, surrounded by a generous layer of large bubble wrapping. The parcel was prominently labeled “Fragile” so on the outside, every precaution has been made to insure the package would be delivered as safely as possible. The products themselves were covered in their own individual boxes, sleek, black and professional. Each individual boxes/ packages indicated the name of the products as well as the full ingredients of each products so that the consumer is well aware of the product and what it contains. After retrieving the products themselves from the packages, to my pleasant surprise I saw that extra care was taken in preserving the actual cosmetics. The two layers of the 120 palette were tightly sealed under plastic wrapping. After removing the cap from the gel liner, a safety seal was on top of the product, protecting the cream gel liner from drying out between manufacturing and shipping. Excellent! A+++

Shipping: Because I received these products from the company for free, they were shipped to me at the lowest shipping rate. The company is based out of China, and with customs, and the holiday, it slowed down the shipping of these products significantly! It took about a month for me to receive the products since it was sent in mid December! I spoke with Crystal, the main customer service rep, and my main contact with the company and she insured me that their company has many shipping options with delivery days as little as 7 business days and as much at 28 business days! That’s pretty cool being as that this company is based overseas.  Because I haven’t experienced any of their alternate shipping options, I can’t adequately rate this part. Sorry folks!

Out of all the good points that I like about this company, so far, and their products, I must say, there are some bad points that I’m inclined to share as well.

Knock-offs!: Although I love the selection and prices of the individual brushes they offer, I cringe at the knock off MAC brush sets that is found on this site as well. Trust me, these brushes are pretty decent(low, I got me a couple of these 7 piece brush sets from ebay a time or two before, both with and without the fake tag!), so if they just sell those sets w/o the name branded on it, I would dig it more. Not knockin’ anyone’s hustle, just sayin’, knock it off with the knockoff ish.

Well there you have it my beautiful people! The whole sha-bang! My review of ‘s #3 120 palette and their # cream liner. Hope you find this review thorough, and it peeks your curiosity about this company and their products.

Happy shopping Divas!

Things you should know about this company:

REVIEW!!! MBS Cosmetics (MakeUp By Sparkle)

30 Nov

Ladies, ladies, ladies!! I have lucked upon a real live Diamond-in-the-ROUGH with this cosmetics line; MBS Cosmetics, or better known as Makeup by Sparkle Cosmetics. This cosmetics line is so too friggin’ fabulous for words Divas! Oh my goodness gracious.

There are so many good points that I IMMEDIATELY saw with this cosmetics line as soon as I stepped into MakeUp by Sparkle’s studio;

1.) Like the owner herself, and her beautiful studio, Sparkle’s cosmetics line comes packaged in streamlined, professional, sleek boxes and cases where her products are housed. No frills, no fuss, just black and white. And truthfully speaking, I always thought “Gee, how genious is it to literally let the PRODUCTS speak for themselves?!”

2.) Speaking of letting her products speak for themselves…com’on now son! :) Get this; all of MBS Cosmetics’ products are  non-comediaginic, paraben free and hypoallergenic!! YAY!!!!!!!! All that AND this kind of color payoff…

3.) With the background that Ms. Sparkle has in the beauty industry, her experience in the “business of makeup” both as a consumer, a practicing professional MUA (makeup artist), consultant  and entrepeneur, it goes to show that a well rounded fellow MUA should and WOULD know exactly what Pro MUAs want and need as far as products.
Overall, I had a pleasing experience w/ Makeup By Sparkle Cosmetics. It’s such a breath of fresh air to finally get my hands on a product line that offers the same quality as the other “Bigger Names” out there, is confident enough to stand side by side with any competition, and still have the heart and soul of your favorite “Mom and Pops”. Go Sparkle! And you go too…yeh you…you reading this! Go to http://www.makeupbysparkle.com.
Check out the “About Us” section of site and read up on this Dynamic Diva.I know I’ll be pickin’ up some more pieces from MBS…will you?

REVIEW TIME: Mark. by Avon

29 Nov

Let me first start off by saying, I LOVE ME SOME AVON baby!! Don’t sleep, don’t sleep; a lot of the products that Avon provides are genuinely QUALITY. I personally live by their mascaras and their makeup primer. Soooo goood. I’ve been flippin’ through their cataloges for soooo long…but admittedly, a lot of the products that Avon does sell, namely their foundations and some of their mineral eyeshadows, are not quite up to par for my taste. A lot of their shades and finishes are a little “old-fashioned” if I can say that; Hey, just being honest.

Now Avon has a hipper, cooler, little sister…Mark.! I must say, the color selection and product variations that Mark.’s line carry is pretty dope, and with the quality of their products in general, it’s definitely a great and smart buy.

Checkout these AWESOME swatches and the amazing color payoff from these products!

Check out my (2-Part) Review on all the products I recieved from Mark.
