Get the look: Lala Vasquez Inspired Look

16 Aug

Hey Divas!!

So I did a google search of Lala Vasquez makeup because I’ve always been inspired by the carefree yet high maintenance look she always rocks in general; her smokey eyes always looks effortless, yet polished, and when she does a more extreme look, it still has a toned down elegance that is to DIE FOR! I decided to do a look inspired by this look (see below);

Products Used:
(brows)
Maybeline Line Stylists pencil “Expresso”
BitchSlap Cosmetics brow powder “Auburn”
Maybeline FIT Concealer “#30”
(face)
Revlon Color Stay foundation “380 Caramel”
BitchSlap Cosmetics Loose Powder “Butternut”
Iman Foundation Stick “Clay 2”
28 Neutral Palette dark brown e/s & copper blush (blush/contour)
Graffiti Divas Cosmetics Blush “Cordial”
Femme Couture Mineral Effects Bake Bronzer “Twice Baked”
(eyes)
MakeUp by Sparkle e/s “Cutting Edge”
MakeUp by Sparkle e/s “Minx”
MakeUp by Sparkle e/s “Ochre”
MakeUp by Sparkle e/s “Carbon”
120 Matte Eyeshadow palette (highlight, burnt orange, brown, sage)
L’oreal liquid liner “Carbon Black”
Milani Liquif’Eye khol liner “Black”
Select Lash eyelashes “S42 Black”
L’oreal Voluminous Million Lashes “635 G900”
(lips)
NYX lip liner “Purple Rain”
NYX Black Label Lipstick “Beige”
MakeUp by Sparkle lipgloss “Nearly Naked”
Revlon Super Lustrous lipgloss “Pearl Plum”

I absolutely love this look. There’s a lot of warmth all over her face, from the rich berry toned lips, to the burnt orange and brown shades applied to her crease areas and lower lashline of her eyes, to even the subtle hint of flushness to her cheeks. Then the artist brought in the cool tones of a icy silver and forest green on her lid, which makes her green eyes pop! To further glamify this look, the artist incorporated lush, full lashes; icing on the cake!

I later decided to re-do this look, using different products, and “upping the Glam” by choosing both lighter and darker, yet equally bolder colors. See below! Continue reading

Retro Look: Pin-Up w/ a Twist!

15 Aug

Hello my LOVELIES!!! So I’ve been playing in my new palette that I received from Colorful Online. I must say, I really love this particular palette, the 4th Edition 120 Palette. It’s ultra versatile, especially as a freelance artist, I can really rely on the shades and finishes found in this palette for my fabulous brides. Don’t be turned off by this palette’s muted shades, look at the look I was able to whip out! Definitely not muted!

I must admit, this was a look I did on a whim; it started off as a Pin Up look, but then some things started churning in my head and I decided to bump it up a notch! Can we say “Lavendar LIPS”? Fab

5 Week Update: Vixxens Hair Imports Virgin Indian Hair

15 Aug

Hey y’all!! So it’s about that time for another hair update with my latest install using Vixxens Hair Import’s Virgin Indian hair. For all those who aren’t familiar with this site, and my initial review, check out the video and the link below;

Now that you guys are up to speed, let’s dive right into the latest experience with this hair company. (see video below)

In a nutshell, I’m still very satisfied with this company and the hair that I was provided. The shedding has increased some, but it’s my opinion that it’s just due to the color treatment I did in the hair. As I stated in the video, I created a 3/4 wig piece using this hair similar to xXTheIslandBeautyXx’s quick weave system.

Part 1:

Part 2:

For anyone who’s curious as to how mine looked after I made it (let me warn you, they look a little rough, haha), here you go! Continue reading

Hair Move: Deshoveled Messy Waves

10 Aug

Waves made by using my Ion 1" thermal curlers, and Helen of Troy tapered curling wand

HEY DIVAS!! So shout out definitely goes out to my girl Crystal Carmen of Pink Stilettos Cosmetics. I’m starting to discover more and more styles to create with my extensions so that I don’t have to stress out my natural hair. With this hair installation using Vixxens Hair Imports’ Virgin Wavy hair, dyed in an Ombre treatment, I’ve already tried it naturally curly, loose body curled, tight springy curls and now, relaxed Lazy Curls!! Crystal wanted me to do a textured style with this hair, and I decided to achieve this look using two styling, hot tools!

Helen of Troy tapered curling wand, purchased at Sally's Beauty SupplyIon Curling Iron, purchased at Sally's Beauty Supply

Ion Curling Iron, purchased at Sally's Beauty Supply

These hot tools are a must have, in my opinion, when styling my natural hair. Specifically the Ion styler, because it’s thermally guaged and it lets out steam while curling my strands which does nothing but retain the moisture I really need in my natural hair. I don’t have to get it to the hottest setting and that’s GREAT!!My Helen of Troy tapered iron seems to do the same thing, but the jury is still out. I haven’t really broken it in all the way! Haha, but so far, I really like it.

To achieve this look you can do it one of two ways. The first way, which is how I styled it, is using hot tools (see video below)

Another way, which may be a more preferred method especially in dealing with the hot weather and you own natural hair, is using Flexi Rods. Flexirods are super easy to use, it’s honestly fool-proof and user friendly. Unlike most loose rollers, you can achieve numerous different curl patterns/ options. Flexirods come in different sizes to help create messy waves, bodacious curls for both long and shorter hair. Definitely Diva Must Have!!!

Styles that you can achieve using this magical things!

#3 120 Palette

Oh my goodness! Look at this friggin palette! The shades found in this palette are absolutely stunning; both wearable with major dramatic potential! As you can see, this palette contains easy autumn and spring colors, high shine, super shimmery, and SUPER PIGMENTED!

I received this palette back at the end of January of this year, and as soon as I swiped a couple shades on my fingertips,  just to feel the consistency, and check out the color pay off, I’ve been using this palette on my clients STAT! One way or another, either as the entire eye look, an accent color, or a highlight color, I have been using this palette everyday, since the day that I received it.

I already own one of the more popular 120 palettes, also known as the second version of the 120 palette (click here) containing mostly bright colors, both matte and shimmery. This palette, however, is the third version available on this site and as you can see, this lends more towards a wider demographic of makeup wearers, professionals and enthusiasts alike. The colors are not as shocking or intimidating for the more tamed makeup wearers, so I would consider this quite a universal palette, to say the least. A++

I also received a red, shimmer-toned cream liner offered on this site. The color is true-to-tone, which a biggie for me, especially if you use it for its intended use; as a cream eyeliner. Admittedly, I rarely use these types of products as a liner, rather, I gear more towards these products as an eyeshadow, cream base.  The downfall with using most cream liners as an eyeshadow base, though, is that it tends to dry quickly, and is hard to blend completely because of this. Also, because it may dry fast, it does nothing to help the eyeshadow colors stick to the lid. To alleviate these issues, I simply add some type of siliconebased mixing medium to sustain the creamy texture. With this particular cream eyeshadow, I didn’t find that problem at all. It blended beautifully, held on the creamy texture a little longer, and still gave the “no budge, creaseless” effect that we all can appreciate.  A++

So you already know that I am NOT disappointed in the products, let’s talk more about the price points, packaging, labeling and shipping of these products.

Pricing: Make no doubt about it, just by navigating this site, you’ll see a trend on their prices; they’re super low! The pricing for their eyeshadow, blush and concealer palettes are not so unlike the prices you may find on similar websites like Coastal Scents, BH Cosmetics, or Stars Makeup Haven, give or take a couple bucks. You’ll also see that they offer a lot more than just makeup, they have a growing catalogueof cosmetics tools as well. Their site is growing with more products, so it’s only a matter of time  before they become a great online store for virtually all your beauty needs! A

Packaging/ Labeling: Both products came packaged tightly in card-board parcel, surrounded by a generous layer of large bubble wrapping. The parcel was prominently labeled “Fragile” so on the outside, every precaution has been made to insure the package would be delivered as safely as possible. The products themselves were covered in their own individual boxes, sleek, black and professional. Each individual boxes/ packages indicated the name of the products as well as the full ingredients of each products so that the consumer is well aware of the product and what it contains. After retrieving the products themselves from the packages, to my pleasant surprise I saw that extra care was taken in preserving the actual cosmetics. The two layers of the 120 palette were tightly sealed under plastic wrapping. After removing the cap from the gel liner, a safety seal was on top of the product, protecting the cream gel liner from drying out between manufacturing and shipping. Excellent! A+++

Shipping: Because I received these products from the company for free, they were shipped to me at the lowest shipping rate. The company is based out of China, and with customs, and the holiday, it slowed down the shipping of these products significantly! It took about a month for me to receive the products since it was sent in mid December! I spoke with Crystal, the main customer service rep, and my main contact with the company and she insured me that their company has many shipping options with delivery days as little as 7 business days and as much at 28 business days! That’s pretty cool being as that this company is based overseas.  Because I haven’t experienced any of their alternate shipping options, I can’t adequately rate this part. Sorry folks!

Out of all the good points that I like about this company, so far, and their products, I must say, there are some bad points that I’m inclined to share as well.

Knock-offs!: Although I love the selection and prices of the individual brushes they offer, I cringe at the knock off MAC brush sets that is found on this site as well. Trust me, these brushes are pretty decent(low, I got me a couple of these 7 piece brush sets from ebay a time or two before, both with and without the fake tag!), so if they just sell those sets w/o the name branded on it, I would dig it more. Not knockin’ anyone’s hustle, just sayin’, knock it off with the knockoff ish.

Well there you have it my beautiful people! The whole sha-bang! My review of ‘s #3 120 palette and their # cream liner. Hope you find this review thorough, and it peeks your curiosity about this company and their products.

Happy shopping Divas!

Things you should know about this company:

1. company website:www.colorfulonline.com
2. They have 2 ebay shop: colorfulstore09 and  wing_lijun, so check out their feedback
3. Normally , they ship parcels to their customers via china post mail ,it is estimated to arrive USA 12-23days, BUT they also can send parcels by EMS or DHL ,but shipping cost is a bit higher .(note: DHL does not ship domestically 😦 )

Brushes Brushes and MORE BRUSHES!!

13 Dec

So you guys, I’m so excited! No, like SUPER EXCITED!! I recently got a package in the mail and this package could NOT have come more on time. Anyone who knows me, knows that I’m a Diva, BUT I’m a frugle diva…I can do some fabulous things with very little investment. (wink) As a freelance MUA (Makeup Artist), the “tools” of my trade is oh so very important. And as my clientele steadily increase, I find myself re-stocking my makeup kit with some much needed products and tools.

So what came in the mail that’s gotten me in an excited stupor is my newest 24 piece cosmetic brush set that I purchased off of ebay!

Yes, yes, and for 24 high grade, professional brushes, I dropped a little more than $25 (shipping was free!). I’ve purchased from this ebay seller before, and was VERY satisfied with the products that I recieved, which was, ironically, another brush set. They’re based in North Carolina, which is awesome because I know I wouldn’t have that much to worry about as far as est. shipping time, customs and all that drama. I literally purchased my brushes on one day, and like 3-4 days later, it was HERE! I did mention that the shipping was free didn’t I…oh you didn’t here me? WELL THE SHIPPING WAS FREE!! (dropping extra dollars back in my wallet from all the money I saved)

Here are some pics of my current cosmetic brush arsenal. The Silver-handled brushes are the ones from my newest set.

REVIEW!!! MBS Cosmetics (MakeUp By Sparkle)

30 Nov

Ladies, ladies, ladies!! I have lucked upon a real live Diamond-in-the-ROUGH with this cosmetics line; MBS Cosmetics, or better known as Makeup by Sparkle Cosmetics. This cosmetics line is so too friggin’ fabulous for words Divas! Oh my goodness gracious.

There are so many good points that I IMMEDIATELY saw with this cosmetics line as soon as I stepped into MakeUp by Sparkle’s studio;

1.) Like the owner herself, and her beautiful studio, Sparkle’s cosmetics line comes packaged in streamlined, professional, sleek boxes and cases where her products are housed. No frills, no fuss, just black and white. And truthfully speaking, I always thought “Gee, how genious is it to literally let the PRODUCTS speak for themselves?!”

2.) Speaking of letting her products speak for themselves…com’on now son! 🙂 Get this; all of MBS Cosmetics’ products are  non-comediaginic, paraben free and hypoallergenic!! YAY!!!!!!!! All that AND this kind of color payoff…

3.) With the background that Ms. Sparkle has in the beauty industry, her experience in the “business of makeup” both as a consumer, a practicing professional MUA (makeup artist), consultant  and entrepeneur, it goes to show that a well rounded fellow MUA should and WOULD know exactly what Pro MUAs want and need as far as products.
Overall, I had a pleasing experience w/ Makeup By Sparkle Cosmetics. It’s such a breath of fresh air to finally get my hands on a product line that offers the same quality as the other “Bigger Names” out there, is confident enough to stand side by side with any competition, and still have the heart and soul of your favorite “Mom and Pops”. Go Sparkle! And you go too…yeh you…you reading this! Go to http://www.makeupbysparkle.com.
Check out the “About Us” section of site and read up on this Dynamic Diva.I know I’ll be pickin’ up some more pieces from MBS…will you?

REVIEW TIME: Mark. by Avon

29 Nov

Let me first start off by saying, I LOVE ME SOME AVON baby!! Don’t sleep, don’t sleep; a lot of the products that Avon provides are genuinely QUALITY. I personally live by their mascaras and their makeup primer. Soooo goood. I’ve been flippin’ through their cataloges for soooo long…but admittedly, a lot of the products that Avon does sell, namely their foundations and some of their mineral eyeshadows, are not quite up to par for my taste. A lot of their shades and finishes are a little “old-fashioned” if I can say that; Hey, just being honest.

Now Avon has a hipper, cooler, little sister…Mark.! I must say, the color selection and product variations that Mark.’s line carry is pretty dope, and with the quality of their products in general, it’s definitely a great and smart buy.

Checkout these AWESOME swatches and the amazing color payoff from these products!

Check out my (2-Part) Review on all the products I recieved from Mark.

Olives and Grapes

Hey Divas! So I finally got around to getting this look done and uploaded on my YouTube.

As I mentioned in this tutorial, I believe that although this look is very much “Spring-y”, in some weird way, I totally can see this as a beautiful Fall/ Autumn Look, outside of the normal oranges and browns.

So if you would like to introduce a real pop of color into your Autumn Look, check out the tutorial.

Shimmering Gold

Shimmering Gold Look

I recently did a beautiful Shimmering Gold on a lovely young lady, Monet. She and her husband were taking professional photos for their Anniversary I believe (forgive me Monet if I’m dead wrong. LOL!). I’m usually not one to do “Matchy Matchy” with someone’s outfit and makeup, rather I try to do looks that compliment or accentuate the overall look, it’s something about her fit that had me saying “I HAVE to do pure gold and bright turquoise” I just have to! Mama was rocking this beautiful cream, lightweight blouse that had these beautiful beadings and embellishments of gold accents and teal stones. She had on simple, lightwashed slim-fit jeans and THESE BAD ASS gold-glitter, peep-toe, 5 inch heels. I mean, they were BAD! It was like Dorothy from the WIZ and RuPaul got together and made the perfect, sparkling heel! LOL! Continue reading

You guys, I am sooo friggin’ late, but I just had to try my hand at this.

Anyone who knows me, or watches my YouTube vids, KNOWS that I live for IMAN cosmetics!! I own several of her pressed powders, a couple of her eyeshadows, a oil blocking foundation primer, some concealer…and OH YEH, her bomb-ass FOUNDATION STICKS!!

Imagine my excitement when I learned (in the 11th hour, mind you) that IMAN Cosmetics was hosting a contest. The contest’s theme is around their “Leather & Lace” Collection for the Fall/ Winter season, and they’re asking for your best Leather & Lace inspired makeup based off of their campaign.

Iman Leather & Lace Inspired look
